In Binding genoeg Annemarie Kok argues against the tenacious idea that Dutch society suffers from a surplus of 'I' and a lack of 'we'. She demonstrates that social cohesion arises precisely there where individuals can freely and voluntarily interact with eachother. Current policies that force cohesion on a local level against citizen's own will, are more harmful than beneficial.

Annemarie Kok studied philosophy and journalism at the University of Groningen. For six years she was a reporter at Dutch newspaper Trouw and for nine years she was editor in chief of the magazine Noorerbreedte. Currently she publishes on topics related to urban development and society, she writes poetry and teaches writing at the University of Groningen.
