This evening, author Yasmine Ostendorf-Rodríguez and Valiz present the book Let's Become Fungal! Mycelium Teachings and the ArtsThe book takes its inspiration from the world of art and mycology and shares innovative practices from Latin America and the Caribbean that are rooted in behaviours of the mycelium, such as: symbiosis, multispecies collaboration, decentralisation and non-monetary resource exchange. Let's Become Fungal! is more than a book; it presents a way of thinking that can be activated in communities, networks, movements and organisations. After a short introduction, we will screen the short video 'trailer' for the book. In this video some excerpts from the interviews which Yasmine conducted are featured. The sharing and exchange of knowledge during these interviews lead to 12 Fungi teachings, presented in the book. Later on, Yasmine will read excerpts from the book, and guide the audience in a Mycelial Mediation; a collective meditation exercise in which awareness is drawn to the surroundings and the collective presence. Later on there is ample time for Q&A with the author as well as the possibility to further connect and exchange over drinks.

Subject to Change Wine Co. — Subject to Change Wine Co. exists as a canvas for exploring time and place in Northern California. The winery was founded in 2017 by Alex Pomerantz–inspired by a true love for the intersection of California’s unique agricultural landscape, natural wine, and the many people and experiences that come along with those arenas. Over the years our team has grown, and with the help of Jonathan Walton, Kelsey Freeman, Natalia Kaminski and Dominique Henderson, our company has continued to grow, adapt, progress and improve winemaking and viticultural practices vintage after vintage.

Better agriculture is at the forefront of our company’s mission and the cornerstone of our livelihoods. We’re endlessly inspired by the land, the people who steward it, and the fruits of our collective labor. All of our wines, with the exception of the All Hours label, are single vineyard expressions. We aim to represent those people and places through the energy and transparency in the wines. We owe our excellent grower partners much of the credit for the quality of our wines. After all, winemaking starts in the vineyard.

Yasmine Ostendorf-Rodríguez (born 1984) works as a curator and researcher on art and ecology, and is based in Mexico City. She has founded and directed many international initiatives at the intersection of art and ecology, including the Green Art Lab Alliance (Asia, Latin America and Europe) and the Nature Research Department, the Van Eyck Food Lab, and the Future Materials Bank at the Jan van Eyck Academie (NL).
